Incredible Fan-Made 'Man of Steel' Opening Sequence

If you are eagerly awaiting the release of Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel' perhaps this fan-made opening sequence, by commercial production company Will & Tale, will help satiate you until the June 14th opening. It has the look and feel of an actual movie opening with voice overs, aerial shots, and even some Superman footage (not from the actual MOS movie of course). This was created from scratch as a "passion project" according to the creators.
"Like many fans, we’ve been anxiously awaiting the release of Man Of Steel since it was announced a few years ago. Taking inspiration from diehard fans who created unofficial title sequences for films such asAdventures of Tintin and X-Men: First Class, we wanted to see how far we could go with this same idea."
For behind-the-scenes concept art and shots of the rendering process check out Will & Tale's blog.

Disney's Haunted Mansion Batman-Style

Artist Abraham Lopez has given Disney's Haunted Mansion attraction a Gotham City makeover. In the elevator portion of the attraction you enter and the seemingly normal portraits on the walls begin to stretch as you descend and reveal some precarious predicaments. Lopez has inserted all the characters you know so well from Batman, Batgirl, and Nightwing, to the Joker, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn among others. It's really a beautiful and creative piece that pays homage to the original below.

Arkham City Catwoman Cosplay by Yaya Han

Our favorite cosplayer is back with her Arkham City version of Catwoman and as usual Yaya Han has nailed it. Han takes great pride in replicating costume designs of comic book characters and this one is no different. From the goggles to the lines of the fabric to the cleavage she has been meticulous in her costume construction. Check out her site to see what con she'll be at next.

"I've always loved Selina Kyle and Catwoman, and after cosplaying the comic book version, I wanted to do another Catwoman costume. I was overjoyed when she was announced for the 2nd Batman game - Arkham City, and sold on the costume design from the first time I saw a teaser."

"I sewed the costume entirely myself, as usual, making sure to triple-stitch the seams (100+ of them) and also top stitch all of them. I have to say, this was like putting together a complex puzzle and I had dreams about sewing corners and top-stitching at night. Certain pieces like the collar and zipper were also a…

DC Introduces Joker's Daughter

Who is She and What Does She Have in Store for Gotham? "Something evil lurks under Gotham City and it wears the Joker's face." That was the singular phrase associated with this rendering of what Bob Harras over at DC Comics' blog referred to as Joker's daughter followed by a question mark. A very curious development indeed in the new landscape of the New 52 at DC. A cheap ploy? Another casting gimmick? Who is she? Harper Row? So many question marks in the latest attempt by the desperate folks at DC Comics to spark sales. Well, I am intrigued if not a little confused.
Duella Dent, Harvey Dent's daughter, was the original "Joker's Daughter" and later revealed to be from Earth 3. So we are left to speculate who this one is suppose to be. It would make sense that it would be Harper Row just by the fact that she's navigated the sewers of Gotham and probably found Joker's face after his fight with Batman. But that leads to more questions abo…

'Kick-Ass 2' Fight Sequence Movie Clip (NSFW)

Unclear if Leaked or Released (Possible Spoiler)

Kick-Ass 2 - Extrait #1 by Lyricis
Bleeding Cool posted this fight sequence from the upcoming 'Kick-Ass 2' but they were unsure if it was an official release because it appears to be a pivotal point in the movie and ends abruptly. It does provide some insight on how it'll look and it basically continues the feel of the first film. Which is good news because it looks to be equally awesome.

Patton Oswalt's Star Wars Episode VII Movie Pitch has a Poster by EW

"yesterday also saw the Parks & Recreation producers release a video of guest star/geek scholar Patton Oswalt improvising about the future of the Star Wars universe. The improvisation turned into an epic eight-minute-plus pitch for a fever-dream Episode VII, a mega-crossover with the Avengers, X-Men,Fantastic Four, and Clash of the Titans that would feature a cuckolded Han Solo and a decapitated Chewbacca — who’s not dead, don’t worry, they’re making him a spider-robot body with ion cannon shoulders, but only for the post-credits sequence. Also, Boba Fett. Also also, Moon Knight.
Oswalt appears on tonight on Parks & Rec. In his honor, EW visual guru Jef Castro designed the movie poster for Oswalt’s Episode VII"

Harrison Ford Will Not Answer Star Wars Questions on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Hilarious Segment That Gets a Little Heated

Harrison Ford appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to talk about his role in the new Jackie Robinson biopic, '42', when the interview turned to the rumored reports of him returning as Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars movie. He didn't want to talk about it and refused to answer any questions about it. Jimmy then turned to audience members for questions and Ford agreed as long as they weren't about Star Wars.
Needless to say that audience members were a bit deflated but things got a little heated when one person from Ford's past appeared to ask a question. Check out the video for the hilarious bit.

'R.I.P.D.' Trailer Released

R.I.P.D. - Trailer #1 [VO|HD]by addictomovie

After the poster release, Universal has released the trailer for R.I.P.D. starring Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds as the after-life police, hence the Rest In Peace Department title. Based on the Dark Horse comic book series by Peter M. Lenkov, Bridges and Reynolds have to round up dead culprits and from the look of the trailer save the world at the same time. They have to do it while appearing to the living as model Marissa Miller and veteran actor, James Hong. Confusing? Not really. Silly? Definitely. Yet the trailer appears funny with some charm but the special effects aren't cutting edge. It should remind you of Men in Black, Beetlejuice, Hellboy with a little Ghostbusters thrown in. Hopefully, it's as good as those films.
R.I.P.D. stars Ryan ReynoldsJeff BridgesJames HongMary-Louise ParkerRobert Knepper, and Kevin Bacon. It opens in 3D on July 19, 2013.

Patton Oswalt's Epic Star Wars Mash-up Filibuster from 'Parks and Recreation'

8 Minutes of Nerd-Powered Oratory

Patton Oswalt appears on NBC's Parks and Recreation this Thursday and delivers an improvised filibuster speech that would boggle the minds of most politicians. At a Pawnee council meeting, Oswalt's character decides to uphold a vote by filibustering for as long as he can. He then begins a detailed interpretation of what he would like to see in the next Star Wars movie, Episode VII. He manages to mash together Star Wars, The Avengers, Clash of the Titans, X-Men, and others in the most phenomenal movie pitch you've ever heard. Enjoy.

General Zod has Spoken! Earth Has Been Warned! Surrender Superman!

Man of Steel Viral Campaign Has Begun

And so it begins! The 'Man of Steel' viral campaign has started with this grainy video with General Zod's dire warning to Earth to turn over Superman or suffer the consequences. Along with a Kryptonian count down clock at iwillfindhim.com Warner Bros. is ramping up to what early reports deem as an exciting and surprising take on the Son of Krypton. All this in anticipation of another trailer release for Tuesday. Photos recently released in the newest issue of Entertainment Weekly reveal a darker but more action packed Superman movie than we've seen with a formidable villain. So far so good.

Wonder Woman Documentary Debuts on PBS Tonight!

Thanks to film-maker Kristy Guevara-Flanagan,  fans of Wonder Woman and superheroines, have it's own documentary chronicling the rise of female heroes over the years. Since an actual worthy feature film has proven elusive for decades this doc represents how ingrained the powerful inspiration of fictional characters like Wonder Woman are pervasive in American culture.
"Tonight on Independent Lens, watch  "Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines," which traces the fascinating evolution and legacy of Wonder Woman. From the birth of the comic book superheroine in the 1940s to the blockbusters of today, popular representations of powerful women often reflect society's anxieties about women's liberation. Go behind the scenes with Lynda Carter, Lindsay Wagner, comic writers and artists, and feminist figures such as Gloria Steinem, Kathleen Hanna and others, who offer a counterpoint to the male-dominated superhero genre." - PBS

Why Wonder Woman Kissing Someone Not Named Superman Has the Web Ablaze

Preview Gatefold Cover of Wonder Woman #19 Raises Some Questions

Since DC Comics released this preview of Wonder Woman issue #19 with the gatefold cover that has her in full passionate lip lock with Orion internet bloggers are curiously outraged. They question why she was kissing Orion while currently dating Superman. Is she a cheater? Is she under some spell? What will become of her relationship with Supes?

Considering that from the beginning of DC's launch and relaunch of 52 comic book titles Wonder Woman hasn't exactly fit in the new continuity. She's been on her own journey in light of new revelations about her birth and has mainly been dealing with her family of powerful gods. It's not very clear if the WW of her book is the same WW of the 'Justice League' book where the relationship with Superman exists.

Furthermore, my theory is that she's under some kind of smell because she hasn't gotten along very well with Orion and with supernatural siblings c…

R.I.P. Roger Ebert

The Legendary Film Critic Loses His Battle with Cancer and Passes Away at Age 70 Long ago, before the internet and sites like Rotten Tomatoes, movie reviews were primarily found in newspapers and later on television. Unlike today where there is a saturation of information about the latest movies with casting and plot spoilers available on your mobile device there was a time you depended on smart and fair critics to give you an inkling as to whether or not it was worth your time. Chicago Sun-Times critic Roger Ebert, along with Chicago Tribune's Gene Siskel, on their show 'At the Movies' was my gateway to previews and information by way of intelligent debate over great and not-so-great movies as a young man. Today, the Sun-Times reported that Ebert had passed away from a decade long battle with thyroid and salivary gland cancer.
One of the great aspects of Ebert's reviews was his honest and fair evaluation of films from 'Citizen Kane' to 'Ishtar'. He didn…

Gallery 1988 West Art Exhibit: Tribute to SNL

Is This Thing On #2 Too a tribute to SNL March 29 - April 20, 2013
7308 Melrose Ave.Los Angeles, CA

Saturday Night Live has been ingrained in our pop culture psyche for almost 40 years due to it's irreverent humor and sometimes unpredictable improvisational sketches. Despite being inconsistently funny when a sketch resonates it resonates big. Thus adding to the lexicon with phrases like "Schwing!", "Down by the river", "Well, ain't that special", "Superstar!" and many others. Some sketches led to big movie adaptations that worked (Wayne's World, Blues Brothers) and many that didn't (A Night at the Roxbury, Superstar, The Ladies Man, etc.). Many of the best and most memorable moments of SNL have been captured by artists and are being exhibited at Los Angeles' premier pop culture art gallery, Gallery 1988 West.
These and many more works are also available for sale online at their website. The exhibit ends April 20, 2013.

Fully Dressed Redesigns of Superheroines by Mike Lunsford Covers Up Wonder Woman and Others

Artist Puts a New Spin on Comics Super Women Wardrobe
At Spartantown, we've been known to feature beautiful artwork and cosplay of female super-heroines in what could be deemed sexy or revealing attire. Yet we have attempted to be tasteful about it and we have never pretended that Power Girl's "boob-window" ever made sense or that Wonder Woman in essentially what constitutes a one-piece bathing suit was proper crime-fighting gear. These and other sometimes preposterous outfits have been canon for decades so they live on in comic books, blogs, fan art sites, and in the cosplay community. However, artist Michael Lee Lunsford has re-imagined some of the most popular heroines in fully clothed costumes.
The result is a more realistic version of costumes with some influence of their original outfits. WonderWoman now sports pants and long sleeves while retaining her chest armor. Black Canary and Zantanna ditch their fishnets for pants and Supergirl covers her mid-driff and …
