INCEPTION Fan-made '50s Style Trailer is Perfect

The Thrills! The Chills! The Spectacle!

A fan-made trailer for Christopher Nolan's latest film, 'INCEPTION', modeled after the trailers of Alfred Hitchcock's films from the 1940's and 50's!

The audio is picked from the trailers of 'Rear Window', 'Spellbound' and 'Vertigo'. The words are my own, but those are just like what they normally cover the entire screen with. Music from those three trailers too.

It's so fascinating to see how movie trailers have evolved over the years. See this video and see the real trailer; you can see how things have changed over half a century!

'Itty Bitty Hellboy' by Art Baltazar and Franco - Comic Book Hot Pick

All-ages Books Gets Their Due
Amid the frenzy of the Big Two's epic crossover events there still remains a market that is often ignored but thankfully supplied by wonderful writers and artists, the all-ages segment. Art Baltazar and Franco Aureliani have won awards for their work on DC Comics "Tiny Titans" and brought their expertise to Dark Horse and the world of Hellboy in "Itty Bitty Hellboy". While the market is represented by titles that reflect what kids are watching on television (Adventure Time, My Little Pony, Littlest Pet Shop) there still remains a need to either introduce existing comic book characters or foster the relationship with heroes from Marvel and DC cartoons to a new generation of readers. Baltazar and Franco have done great work making DC characters like Superman, Power Girl, and Deathstroke accessible and palatable to kids. The transition to more mature books will be easier since the heroes aren't foreign to them. This enjoyable book…

How to Co-opt a Movie Scoop and Dress It Up as Your Own

The Race for Man of Steel Scoops Gets Fishy
One of the hottest movie news stories in entertainment continues to be Warner Bros. planned sequel to Man of Steel under the working title 'Batman vs Superman'. It's natural for entertainment publications, blogs, and websites to clamour for the latest scoop in whatever detail, even minute ones, to boast about to draw page visits on their respective sites. After the enormous success of the reboot to the Superman movie franchise and subsequent announcement at the San Diego Comic-con of its sequel to feature Batman the rumors and speculation began to fill the internet, including from us. The studio recently revealed it had chosen Ben Affleck to play Batman and that caused a firestorm of mostly negative reactions on social media. Focus has turned to other casting, specifically the role of Lex Luthor.
Superman's iconic nemesis provided some easter eggs in Man of Steel. His name appeared on a skyscraper and an 18-wheeler setting the …

Ben Affleck is Batman and Internet Goes Nuts

Oscar Winner Joins Man of Steel Sequel

When it was announced that Warner Bros. was looking for an older actor to play a seasoned Dark Knight in the Man of Steel sequel many names were batted around including Ben Affleck. Now they've made it official by stating in a press release that Affleck will indeed be paired against Henry Cavill in the informally titled 'Batman vs Superman' movie.
"We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics' most enduringly popular superheroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent, and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character," - Greg Silverman, Warner Bros.' president of creative development and worldwide production."Ben provides an interesting counterbalance to Henry's Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears th…

We Cast Lex Luthor for Man of Steel Sequel - Choice #5 Mark Strong

Strong Case for This On Screen Baddie - Last in a Series

The latest casting rumors for Lex Luthor in the planned Man of Steel sequel had 'Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston getting a lot of attention and rightly so. Cranston has created an iconic television character playing Walter White who has gone from "Mr. Chips to Scarface" over the last 5 seasons while collecting Emmys along the way. However, it is very difficult to overlook another actor who has done exceptional character work as antagonists in 'Kick-Ass', 'Green Lantern', and 'John Carter'. Mark Strong's name is still in the mix because he has the look, the menacing demeanor, and versatility to charm or frighten.
I hesitated to add him to the list because it was so easy to typecast him as another villain but he does it so well. While he has performed great in those movies, the movies themselves have underperformed. Here is a chance for audiences to discover Strong in what is sure to be a…

Latino Comics Expo Brought Crowds and Talent in Inaugural Los Angeles Event

Independent Comic Book Creators Garnered Spotlight This Weekend
This past weekend the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach held the inaugural Southern California debut of the Latino Comics Expo. After appearing the last two years in San Francisco the founders decided to bring the Expo to comic book fans in Los Angeles. Javier Hernandez, co-founder of the event, stated that while Latino artists and writers attend huge conventions every year he wanted a smaller venue where they are celebrated and their works are the focal point. It also serves as an inspiration to young Latinos (and non-Latinos alike) that beautifully rendered stories exist that reflect their heritage with characters they can relate to. There was no shortage of talented independent creators of comic books and art.
Lalo Alcaraz, award-winning cartoonist and satirist, was on hand with prints of his most popular political cartoons and original framed works. His editorial cartoons appear syndicated nationally and touch …

Yaya Han as Lady Sif from 'Thor'

The Queen of Cosplay in Battle Mode
"I made this costume for San Diego Comic Con after gathering materials and reference for several months...I love badass warrior girls and the color red, so Sif was a no brainer! I really liked her character in the comic book as well, from the fact that she grew up with Thor and trained along side him, to their on and off romance over the years, and Sif's strong, loyal and courageous nature. "

"Looking at the reference images and the various interpretations of Sif by different artists, I ended up grabbing my favorite aspects and combining them into this costume. It's what I do for all of my costumes actually."

"Debuting Sif at SDCC, it was well received and I had a blast judging the Marvel costume contest. Then I was able to coax Riddle into doing a photoshoot with me in her awesome Female Loki costume...and thinking of complementary poses. Since Loki basically possesses Sif to become Femme Loki, it was neat to bring tha…
