Eliza Dushku Stars in Sci-Fi Short 'The Gable 5'

Kevin Tancharoen, the filmmaker that created the popular webseries, Mortal Kombat: Legacy, has returned to Machinima with his latest short film entitled The Gable 5 starring one of Joss Whedon's favorite action heroines, Eliza Dushku. The ties to the Whedon-verse are well intact as Tancharoen's brother-in-law is Jed Whedon, who co-produces along with wife Maurissa, the super spy drama Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.LD. on ABC. Dushku once again shows off her killer moves in this dark and action-packed sci-fi short film.

Preview of Community's 'G.I. Joe' Episode

NBC released a preview of Community's animated special entitled "G.I. Jeff", a parody of G.I. Joe cartoons of the '80s, with a familiar PSA-style format. The preview first appeared last night at PaleyFest in Los Angeles where attendees where treated to the video as well as a panel discussion with the cast and producers of the show. We'll update the post when video of the panel is released.

'Captain America: The First Avenger' Gets an Honest Trailer (Video)

Just in time before the sequel arrives on April 4th, comes another hilariously brilliant "Honest Trailer" from Screen Junkies as they gently skewer popular films and uncover some obvious and not-so obvious truths. This one in particular, Captain America: The First Avenger,  is brutally honest about it being made solely to set-up the Avengers movie. Which is probably true but it's still an entertaining film and arguably one of Marvel Studios best.

Arrow Cast and Crew to Live-Tweet Tonight's Episode

The cast and crew from #Arrow will be live-tweeting TONIGHT!

Here's a complete list of who to follow:

Official Jim Gordon Photo from 'Gotham' Released

Another day another official image release of a Gotham cast member from Fox Television's upcoming Batman prequel. The young detective who will become commissioner one day looks very professional in coat and tie with a nice buzzcut. Ben McKenzie (OC, Southland) who plays Jim Gordon will have to contend with a department teeming with corruption and a beat strife with crime headed by gangster Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) and a rogue's gallery of young villains in The Penguin, Riddler and even the Joker.

COMIC BOOK DAY: Today's Pull List 3/26

Pull list 3/26 by Slidely Slideshow
This is a light week for me personally. Not because there is a lack of quality books but because my eyes are larger than my wallet. I've already featured one of the best collections of comics in recent memory, Rat Queens Volume 1: Sass and Sorcery, and put a spotlight on the brand new addition to Ghost Rider lore in All-New Ghost Rider #1 debuting this week but there are some others out this week that I never miss.

'Indiana Jones' Could Recast, Go Younger and Start New Trilogy

Bradley Cooper Leads Studio's Wish List to Star

According to unnamed sources over at Latino Review, it seems if Harrison Ford and Paramount can't nail down a date to begin the fifth installment of the classic adventure films, the studio is reportedly prepared to move on with a different take on the character, recasting with a younger actor to take on the persona of Indiana Jones and begin a fresh trilogy.

Official Photo of Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin from 'Gotham' Released

Fox has been releasing official images of the cast of Gotham on their tumblr page this week. Yesterday it was the young Penguin's turn in a devilish smile and bow tie. Robin Lord Taylor will play the vicious up and coming thug Oswald Cobblepot in the pre-Batman days as the show will revolve around young detective James Gordon, the future commissioner and Batman ally, as he deals with crime and corruption in a Gotham City without a Dark Knight.
Oswald Cobblepot/aka The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor – The Walking Dead, Another Earth, Accepted) has the brains of a chess grandmaster and the morals of a jackal. A low-level psychopath for gangster Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith), he hides his sadistic lust for power behind an exquisitely polite demeanor.

Dwayne Johnson and DC Find the Right Superhero Project

Dwayne Johnson has long been rumored to be joining this golden age of superhero films but the question has always been as which character. There's been speculation it was Black Adam, Lobo, Martian Manhunter and he even hinted at Green Lantern. Yet there's been no confirmation of any role in particular up until now. During a group interview promoting his newest feature Hercules at CinemaCon, Johnson told Collider that he and DC Entertainment have settled on a hero that met his parameters:

Official Image of 'Gotham's Alfred Pennyworth Released

Fox released another official image from their Batman prequel Gotham. After releasing Donal Logue as Det. Harvey Bullock and Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle now we have Sean Pertwee as Bruce Wayne's trusted confidante Alfred Pennyworth.

'Community' Gets Animated Once More in 'G.I. Joe' Parody Episode

No stranger to special episodes, the folks at Community are getting animated once more. They've been reimagined as 8-bit and stop-motion characters as well as puppets before. This time they'll get the G.I. Joe treatment as animated action heroes like the beloved '80s toy-based cartoon. And like Joes of the past they also have codenames. Jeff (Joel McHale) as Wingman, Annie (Alison Brie) as Tight Ship, Britta (Gillian Jacobs) as Buzzkill, and Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) as Three Kids. Executive producer, Chris McKenna told Entertaintment Weekly why this episode was especially significant:

New 'Gotham' Set Photos Capture Young Selina Kyle in Action

Some more set photos from Fox's Batman prequel Gotham have emerged and this time they feature dancer-actress Camren Bicondova as the future Catwoman, Selina Kyle. The young newcomer is captured escaping on a fire escape with some loot presumably and posing with young Bruce Wayne, Touch-actor David Mazouz. Already clad in black leather, Kyle is apparently honing her burglary skills on a show that will keep Detectives Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) busy with the rising wave of crime and corruption in Gotham City.

'Ghostbusters 3' May Have Found New Directors in 'LEGO Movie' Duo

Just when I had abandoned hope for a decent sequel to the '80s classic, Ghostbusters, now comes rumor that the project could still be salvaged with some talented new directors at the helm. According to Nikki Finke, formerly of Deadline, sources claim that Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (LEGO Movie, 21 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) are being sought to take over the long delayed third installment of the paranormal exterminators comedy.

Official Photo of Gotham's Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock Released

After some set photoswent public we now have an official image of Donal Logue (Sons of Anarchy, Vikings, Copper) as the scruffy, unrefined partner and mentor to the younger Jim Gordon, Harvey Bullock in Fox's upcoming Batman prequel drama Gotham. Logue certainly fits the bill with the facial hair and fedora.

COMIC BOOK DAY - Today's Pull List 3/19

Slidely Slideshow

This week's pull list has the return of American Vampire with the talented and ubiquitous Scott Snyder writing and Rafael Albuquerque penciling. DC Comics' leading ladies, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn, continue to spearhead women-led titles on the sales chart. Dark Horse's Skyman from Joshua Hale Fialkov is an underrated gem. The rest of the field of today's recommendations are from Image Comics whose line-up is a murderer's row of quality indies.

'Incredibles 2' is in Development Says Pixar

At a shareholder's meeting today, Disney Chairman Robert Iger announced that Pixar and original director Brad Bird are working on a sequel to the 2004 animated hit The Incredibles. Bird is penning the script but few other details have been released thus far. Regardless, the fact that it's in the works is a welcome relief to fans who have been clamoring for a sequel that features the super-powered Parr family ever since their debut ten years ago.
Fans will get to relive the excitement of the original as Disney will be releasing it again in theaters in 3D. Even if it is a cash grab by the studio it's well worth the money to see Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Dash, Violet, Jack-Jack and Frozone in one of the best Pixar films ever made.
We'll update this post with more information as they become available.

The True Detective/Batman Mash-Up Intro We Deserve

What if the "World's Greatest Detective" got the True Detective treatment with his own intro also set to Handsome Family's "Far From Any Road"? Luckily, Josh Newman took the challenge and created The World's Greatest True Detective parody video starring Bruce Wayne and a cast of familiar Gothamites like Dick Grayson, Selina Kyle, James Gordon, and many more.
HBO's hit show is looking for new leads for season two and who better than Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson? It's not in the cards right now but it'd be a lot cooler if it did.

'Gotham' Set Photos of the Penguin, Jim Gordon, and Harvey Bullock (Potential Spoiler Image)

There are some new set photos from Fox's Batman prequel, Gotham, featuring Ben McKenzie (still mustache-free) as young Detective James Gordon and his partner played by Donal Logue (appropriately scruffy-faced) as Detective Harvey Bullock. Here they are working their beat along some brownstones. The drama follows the early days before Gordon becomes the Commissioner, he befriends a young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and battles some familiar Gotham City villains.

Internet-video creators, Corridor Digital, just bolstered their campaign for more funds on Pantreon with this incredible video featuring a drone from Dronefly, a camera from GoPro, and a little help from the Man of Steel. The awe-inspiring, vertigo-inducing video captures the first-person perspective of Superman flying around Los Angeles fighting crime and saving people. The fan-made story has Supes returning the camera after it was sent to him by mistake. It's expertly edited with some nice special effects along the way. Enjoy.

DC Comics to Feature Bombshell Variant Covers in June

DC Comics is taking their DC Collectibles Bombshell line and splashing 20 June titles with the pin-up inspirations of the '40s and '50s as variant covers. Wonder Woman, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, will be among those getting the bombshell treatment. This follows the other themed covers of January (Scribblenauts), February (Steampunk), March (Robot Chicken), and May (Batman '66 by Mike Allred). April has not been announced. Ant Lucia, who designed the Collectibles line, will also design the variants, some with brand new designs.

ART: Lupita Nyong'o as X-Men's Storm by Daniel Thompson

Aspiring comic book artist and Mississippi State University student, Daniel Thompson, has fantastically imagined Oscar-winning actress and "America's Sweetheart", Lupita Nyong'o, as Storm from Marvel's X-Men. Seems like a no-brainer if Marvel chose to cast a young Ororo Monroe aka Storm and future Queen of the African nation of Wakanda. The beautiful and talented Nyong'o would join fellow Oscar winners like Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, and others to be featured in a comic book based movie.
She would look great as Storm but even if this never happens there will undoubtedly be other opportunities. Her star is shining bright right now and Marvel and Warner Bros. must have her on their radar as the superhero movies continues to fill movie houses. It's just a matter of time but if not Storm what other superhero could she play?

NBC's 'Constantine' Releases Official Image of Matt Ryan as the Supernatural Detective

"This Constantine, envisioned by [director] Neil Marshall and embodied by Matt Ryan, looks like he sprang directly from the comics’', is how executive producer David S. Goyer (Da Vinci's Demons, Man of Steel, Batman Begins) described his NBC series based on the DC Comics/Vertigo character and this image proves him right. The trench coat, unkempt hair, five o'clock shadow and loosened tie was true to form as the series begins shooting this week.

Young Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle Cast for Fox's 'Gotham'

The Boy Who Would Be Batman and His Eventual Foil Join the Batman Prequel
David Mazouz (Touch) will be the teenage Bruce Wayne in the Batman prequel, Gotham, for Fox television. The young actor won't be Batman for quite some time, not until the end of the series (which we hope considering its Fox won't be for a long time), but will seek guidance from his butler Alfred and pre-Commissioner James Gordon after the violent deaths of his parents.
Also cast was Camren Bicondova, a professional dancer and newcomer to acting, who'll be playing a teenage Selina Kyle (the future Catwoman)  decribed as a “teenage orphan who is suspicious and wholly unpredictable; a street thief and skilled pickpocket, she’s dangerous when cornered.”
The drama surrounds the life of the young Detective Gordon as he navigates the crime and corruption of Gotham City and emerging threat of soon to be famous villains. The young actors will join series regulars Donal Logue (Detective Harvey Bullock), Zabryna …
