New Clip from BATMAN: ASSAULT ON ARKHAM with More Batman

Some lucky folks at the San Diego Comic-Con last weekend got to view the premiere of Batman: Assault on Arkham, the latest animated feature from DC Entertainment, but there's been a new video released for those of us waiting for the physical DVD/Blu-ray out on August 12. And for those of you who gobble up your entertainment digitally it was released on July 29 so if you haven't seen it yet check out "Night Vision" below.

J.R. Ramirez Cast as Wildcat on CW's 'Arrow'

At this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con the executive producer of CW's Arrow announced that DC Comics character Wildcat would be appearing in the upcoming third season of the popular superhero show.Now comes word that former Emily Owens, M.D. actor, J.R. Ramirez, has been cast and will play a pivotal role in Laurel Lance's arc in season three.

The Deadpool Test Footage Starring Ryan Reynolds was Legit and Now in High Resolution

The internet was buzzing with the leaked Deadpool movie test footage that went viral starring what sounded like the voice of Ryan Reynolds over the last couple of days. The very awesome but low resolution video seemed suspect at the time but now after going viral and its subsequent removal the director, Tim Miller, confirmed the test footage and released a high resolution version from his company Blur Studios.

Not many surprises as the beloved Saga (Image) won for Best Continuing Series, Best Writer (Brian K. Vaughan) and Best Painter/Multimedia Artist -Int Art (Fiona Staples). Hawkeye (Marvel) was rewarded for their groundbreaking Issue #11, "Pizza is My Business," and Best Cover Artist (David Aja).

#SDCC: OMG! 'The Walking Dead' Season 5 Trailer is Here!

This is one of those times when you wished you could sleep now and wake up on October 12 when AMC's The Walking Dead returns to your television. Marvel's Agents of SHIELD TV panel was a genial affair with the cast discussing their rookie season and what's in store for season two. That cowl! That scowl! That chin!This close-up head shot of Ben Affleck in costume from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was cleverly hidden in plain site as it was one of many photographs displayed in a montage at the San Diego Comic Con. It was a nice discovery for fans as DC celebrates 75 years of the Dark Knight. What do you think of the Frank Miller-inspired look?

Here's a cool little transformation gif from the folks at GothamonFox on Instagram featuring the Catwoman we all know from the comics and the young version we're going to get on Fox's Batman prequel, Gotham. The young thief is played by Camren Bicondova and she and the rest of the rogues will debut on Sept. 22 on Fox. If you're in San Diego you have an excellent chance of scoring a freebie from the show. Zack Snyder Trolls Twitter with Image of Superman as a Jedi

Context be damned, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice director, Zack Snyder, posted an image of Superman aka Henry Cavill in a robe over his costume posing as a Jedi with a lightsaber. The internet was not designed to handle this level of geektastic imagery.

#SDCC: Ant-Man Poster Will Make You Momentarily Forget It Could Still Be A Hot Mess

This San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Ant-Man poster is a pre-production concept illustration created by Andy Park. EW revealed the poster and it's pretty cool, showcasing Ant-Man himself with the ant-men Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas imposed besides. And in the microscopic form riding a fly as though it was a mighty stallion. I almost forgot the film that got passed around like the last lukewarm bottle of beer at a beach party could still be a muddled mess.

Preview night at the San Diego Comic-Con gave attendees a peek at Ben Affleck's cowl and cape from his Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice costume. Finally, Colton Haynes in Costume as Arsenal for Arrow Season 3

It's been a matter of when not if Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) was going to become the sidekick to Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) on CW's Arrow. Thanks to EW they got an exclusive image of Roy as Speedy, Red Arrow, Arsenal. He will join the team on a full time basis beginning with the first episode of season 3. 
Arrow returns to the CW network on Wednesday, October 8.

Lucy Lawless Adding Awesomeness to Season Two of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

If there's one thing Agents of SHIELD could use is more geek cred and adding Xena: Warrior Princess herself, Lucy Lawless would be a huge boost. The popular actress is slated to appear on the show's second season in an undisclosed role.

Dwayne Johnson Hints at Playing Shazam and Why That Would Totally Rock

During an interview with Total Film while promoting his newest release out this week, Hercules, Dwayne Johnson discussed what role he'd be most interested in playing in a DC hero movie. As he parsed his words it became pretty clear he was hinting at playing Captain Marvel, now known as Shazam.

Star Wars VII: Christina Chong is the Latest Addition to the Cast

Perhaps all that criticism about so few actresses from that initial table read was a bit premature. On Thursday, Latino Review first reported that British actress, Christina Chong (24: Live Another Day), was the latest addition to the Star Wars Episode VII cast that now boasts at least four female cast members.

Archie's Dark Circle Comics Ushers in a New Era of Superheroes with a Trio of Titles

Archie Comics announced they'd be relaunching their superhero characters under the imprint of Dark Circle Comics last week and now they've revealed the first three in their line-up. The Fox, The Black Hood and The Shield will all make their debut in 2015 with some heavy hitters providing the stories and artwork.

Sam Wilson Takes Over as Captain America at Marvel Comics as Revealed on The Colbert Report

As many had suspected, tonight's announcement from Marvel COO Joe Quesada on The Colbert Report did reveal the new Captain America to be Sam Wilson, the former Falcon. He'll be taking over for Steve Rogers after recent events in the comics found Cap without his powers as the super serum had been removed from his blood causing him to age 65 years rapidly. He will remain a vital part of the missions from a tactical perspective and mentor the new Cap.

'Kite' Trailer: Samuel L. Jackson and India Eisley Seek Vengeance in Anime Adaptation

If you thought Scarlett Johansson was awesome in the Lucy trailers let me introduce you to India Eisley. Eisley (The Secret Life of an American Teenager) spends the majority of this trailer kicking ass and dropping bodies while on the hunt for those responsible for the brutal deaths of her parents.

'Powers' Has Cast Susan Heyward as Deena Pilgrim

Susan Heyward (The Following) has been cast as the female lead on Sony Playstation Network's crime drama, Powers, based on the comic book series by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming. Also cast are Max Fowler (The Killing)  and Adam Godley (Breaking Bad, Suits).

Another Marvel Comic Book Announcement Tonight on The Colbert Report

After having the ladies on The View announce the new female Thor comic book series, Marvel's CCO Joe Quesada will appear on The Colbert Report tonight to reveal another all-new title for a "classic super hero." The press release also adds "all-new era" for this character which should mean it's as significant as the Thor announcement.

'Gotham' Flies Their Official Comic-Con Banner

If you're presenting at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con you have to have an impressive banner to let the masses know you're there and ready to party. Well, Fox released their official banner for the Batman prequel drama, Gotham, that premieres on Sept. 22. It incorporates the character posters into one great big gallery. SDCC begins July 24.

Thor's Luscious Golden Locks will Now Belong to a Woman

It turns out the "thundering" announcement Marvel promised to make during ABC's The View was indeed Thor-related. Beginning in October a new Thor and comic book series will feature a female God of Thunder. Described as the one and only Thor worthy of wielding Mjolnir.

Marvel Heads to ABC's The View for "Explosive" Announcement Tomorrow

In another blatant display of corporate synergy, Disney-owned Marvel will be announcing something tomorrow on Disney-owned ABC's talk show, The View. The press release states Marvel will be "announcing its latest explosive title live" and the clue is "AN ALL-NEW THUNDERING TITLE." Whatever that means.

The Hernandez Brothers Highlight This Year's Latino Comics Expo

The highly acclaimed, award-winning Hernandez Brothers, Jaime and Gilbert, will be the Guests of Honor at the 2014 Latino Comics Expo in San Jose, California. The creators of the lauded independent comic book series, Love and Rockets, and other individual work will be making their first appearance at the Expo.

While those us in the States got an extended trailer for Fox's Batman prequel, Gotham, a month ago the good folks in Canada got a different version of their own. What the what?! No worries the video is below and it's pretty great. Some new footage with scenes of the Penguin and Fish Mooney.

NBC's CONSTANTINE has Cast Angelica Celaya as Zed

After it was announced that Lucy Griffiths would be leaving NBC's Constantine the search was on for another actress to play a familiar comic book character, Zed. Today at the Television Critic's Association press junket executive producer David Goyer revealed that Angelica Celaya has been cast as the foil and right-hand woman to the beleaguered supernatural detective.

Fox Announces GOTHAM to Premiere September 22

From Fox: On Monday, Sept. 22, origin story GOTHAM (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) kicks off.  The series follows one cop, destined for greatness, as he navigates a dangerously corrupt city teetering between good and evil, and chronicles the rise of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes. The entirely new, untold chapter comes from executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”) and stars Ben McKenzie (“Southland,” “The O.C.”), Donal Logue (“Vikings,” “Sons of Anarchy”) and Jada Pinkett Smith (“Hawthorne,” “Collateral”).

'Frozen is the New Black' Video Takes Elsa to Prison

With so many Frozen parodies it was always inevitable it would become a mash-up with Netflix's hit women in prison show, Orange is the New Black. Animator Leigh Lahav captures the tone of the dramedy perfectly using a cast of familiar Disney princesses. Gaston as Pornstache was just the topping on the cake. Enjoy!

'Batgirl' Gets New Writers, Artist and Lease on Life

It's no secret that Batgirl has seen some stuff. She's been through a lot including being paralyzed by the Joker at one point. Beginning in October, Barbara Gordon, will finally get to live a semi-normal life befitting a young woman in the city. DC Comics announced a new creative team, writers Cameron Stewart and Brenden Fletcher and new artist Babs Tarr, will change her location and her look with Batgirl #35.

Some fantastic choices today on comics and trade paperbacks. DC Comics doesn't always make the best decisions. The New 52 books is a good example as most books that started the company-wide reboot have gone to the dusty bookshelf in the sky. They are still trying to innovate a little and shake things up. Debuting today is Grayson #1 by Tim Seely and Mikel Janin. Dick has hung up his (night) wings and is now playing super spy. At the very least it provides for some new exciting stories with a fan favorite at its center.

New Spot Released for Batman Prequel 'Gotham'

Fox released another TV spot for their new Batman prequel, Gotham, centering on James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and offering some more glimpses on the villains. Gordon consoles a young Bruce Wayne and more footage of the Wayne funeral.

ART: Avengers/Sleepy Hollow Mash-Up by Asia Kendrick-Horton

Asia Kendrick-Horton is a ridiculously talented freelance digital artist. She's also a huge fan of Fox's hit supernatural show Sleepy Hollow. A lot of her work is based on it and whether she's animating a still from the show or reimagining the characters as kids or royalty the art is vibrant, colorful and fun.

'The Flash' Adds Robbie Amell to Play Firestorm

Robbie Amell, formerly of the CW's now cancelled The Tomorrow People, has joined the Arrow spin-off, The Flash, as Ronnie Raymond aka Firestorm. The cousin of Arrow himself, Stephen Amell, gets another chance on the network as an integral part of the Flash's origin. He'll appear in the third episode of the upcoming season.

Guardians of the Galaxy Extended Trailer - Now with More Rocket Raccoon!

Hot off the 17 minute sneak peek shown to the media tonight (more on that later) is the latest Guardians of the Galaxy trailer with more footage. James Gunn's sci-fi adventure comedy based on Marvel's comic book characters gets a longer look with the underlying rallying call by Star-Lord played by Chris Pratt in this action-packed extended 2-1/2 minute trailer.

DC Comics Variant Covers for October are Monstrous!

Batman and Robin are mummies. Superman is a zombie.Wonder Woman is a vampire. It must be close to Halloween as DC Comics announced the theme for variant covers coming to their line-up this October and it's monsters!

Batman Leads Speed Metal Band with Robin, Nightwing and Red Hood in Crazy Music Video

With lyrics like "feel my fist" and "soon you be dead" it can only mean the Dark Knight is jamming with his bandmates, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood. This crazy animated music video is a head-banging speed metal tour de force with Batman defiantly exclaiming his greatness. Even talking smack to Flash, Hulk, Rocket Raccoon, and Willy Wonka(?).

Arrow Adds 'The Atom' for Season 3 by Casting Former Man of Steel Brandon Routh

CW's Arrow is shaping up to be an incredible season 3 with a Flash crossover in the works, the recent addition of Katana, and now Ray Palmer aka The Atom will be making a recurring appearance. Brandon Routh has been cast to take on the role of the scientist/inventor and new owner of Queen Consolidated.

DC Comics Reveals Superman/Batman Selfie Variant Cover

DC Comics' year of themed variant covers continues as they posted this Superman/Batman selfie preview appropriately enough on the publisher's Instagram account. August is Selfie Variant Cover Month so this one will grace the Batman/Superman #14 cover as well as other titles with their own selfies. 

Looking Wet and Handsome is Henry Cavill in First Shot as Superman Plus Some Words from Zack Snyder

Nothing can brighten a gloomy Gotham City rooftop like a buffed and square-jawed superhero whose "S" should stand for sexy. At least that's our impression of the first photo Warner Bros. released to USA Today of Henry Cavill as Superman in what sure looks like Batman's hometown. It's a fantastic image and the suit appears to have only minor changes from the previous film. They also interviewed director of Batman V Superman: Dawn of JusticeZack Snyder and he shared some insights about redefining the DC Universe on film. Most of his comments made sense.

Meet the Three Villains and One Fan Favorite to Be Appearing in 'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice'

Up until now we've only known for certain that Lex Luthor would be the villain in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.  The title implies the Dark Knight will also be an adversary of the Man of Steel but we know that won't last long. News broke that there'll also be some secondary villains making an appearance in Zack Snyder's much anticipated superhero epic.

'Arrow' Casts Devon Aoki as Katana

One of the best things about CW's Arrow is the fact they're not afraid of introducing other DC Comics characters into the show. The latest example is the casting of Devon Aoki (2 Fast 2 Furious, Sin City) as Tatsu Yamashiro aka Katana for the upcoming season.
