NBC's upcoming Vertigo Comics-based thriller, Constantine, cast Michael James Shaw as the voodoo king of New Orleans, Papa Midnite. The recurring guest role will put him at odds with Matt Ryan's John Constantine title character.
In the comics, Papa was a reluctant ally of Constantine but despite the friction between them would join forces to battle demons. The character first appeared in 1988's Hellblazer #1 and was created by Jamie Delano and John Ridgway. The character was portrayed by Djimon Hounsou in 2005's Keanu Reeves big screen vehicle Constantine.
Constantine premieres Oct. 24 and the cast includes
