David Ayer's Suicide Squad is becoming a star-studded affair as Jesse Eisenberg is in talks to add his Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice role of Lex Luthor. Warner Bros. is already doing a full court press to land Will Smith, Tom Hardy and Margot Robbie to the cast. Some reports have Ryan Gosling in the mix as well. Task Force X has never looked so good.
Deadline got the scoop that the much sought-after Oscar nominee will have to juggle movie projects to crossover his villain role into Squad. He already has Now You See Me 2 and Zombieland 2 sequels lined up but it's Todd Phillips' Arms and the Dudes that could be the odd movie out.
In the comic books, the Suicide Squad has had a long list of members, some didn't make it out alive, and adding another major villain-turned-government black ops contractor fits with the premise of the film.
The villains rumored to be in the film are Deadshot, Vixen, Harkness (Captain Boomerang), Blockbuster, Jaculi, Mindboggler and Multiplex. Adding Lex to the mix raises the class level of a team that traditionally featured B- and C-list characters.
Suicide Squad has an expected release date of August 5, 2016.
