It looks like Universal is smitten with BOOM! Studios properties because it's adapting Day Men after the success of the Mark Walhberg-Denzel Washington vehicle, 2 Guns, from last year. And they've found a screenwriter to pen the adaptation in Murder City scribe, Will Simmons.
The comic book series is centered around the people that take care of business for organized crime families of vampires during the day - thus 'Day Men' - and one in particular, David Reid. He's thrown in the middle of a rising mob war between families of undead bloodsuckers.
The comic was created by BOOM! editor-in-chief Matt Gagnon and co-written by Michael Alan Nelson with Brian Stelfreeze as the illustrator. It's an action thriller framed in a stylistic noir crime drama. It's ready-made for the big screen.
The adaptation should stay true to the source as BOOM! founder and CEO, Ross Richie, and president of development, Stephen Christy, will be producing the film.
Take a look at some pages from the series to get the flavor of Day Men.
