As early as last March, it was reported that studio heads were interested in rebooting the Indiana Jones franchise, with or without Harrison Ford on board, and Bradley Cooper at the top of their wish list to carry on the whip and fedora. Although a new front runner has emerged a year later.Cooper remains as hot as ever with the blockbuster military biopic, American Sniper and another Oscar nomination, but Hollywood's current "it" guy is Chris Pratt. According to Deadline, Pratt is being sought by Disney (they bought the rights from Paramount two years ago) to revive the exciting adventures of the globe-trotting archeologist.
Pratt has vaulted forward as a bankable movie star having led the Guardians of the Galaxy to outrageous box office success and voiced the animated lead in another hit, The Lego Movie. He's already wrapped another starring role in the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World, and is slated to appear with Denzel Washington in the remake of The Magnificent Seven.
There's still the sequel to Galaxy to come so Pratt's dance card is filling up quickly. The news comes a little early in the process so it's a qualified rumor if nothing else. Pratt may not even be available so the casting could still go to Cooper or some other hot actor by the time it comes to start production.
Frankly, either actor would work as long as they keep Shia Labeouf as far away as possible.
