DC Comics' Vixen will be joining The CW and its world of superheroes that include Arrow and The Flash. Expected to hit the network's digital online arm, Seed, in the fall Vixen will be produced by Marc Guggenheim who also helms the live-action Arrow.
Created by Gerry Conway and Bob Oksner, Vixen debuted in Action Comics #521 in 1981. Promotional material made available Sunday at the Television Critics Association conference features Vixen front and center among her new animated net-mates with background information:
Originally from Africa, Mari McCabe's parents were killed by local greed, corruption, and wanton violence. But the orphaned Mari refuses to succumb to the terrors surrounding her. Inheriting her family's Tantu Totem, Mari can access the powers of animals -- anything from the super-strength of a gorilla to the speed of a cheetah. As Vixen, she fights valiantly to protect the world from the threats like those that claimed her family.
Can a live-action appearance of Vixen be far behind?
