'Copperhead Volume 1: A New Sheriff in Town' is a Must-Buy Trade This March

Copperhead is a grimy, dusty mining town on a distant planet, not exactly the kind of place where a single mother would choose to settled down—but Clara Bronson is the new sheriff in town, and she has some secrets. And secrets won’t last long in a small town, especially when Clara’s profile is about to get a lot larger as she investigates a grisly massacre in COPPERHEAD, the new Image Comics space western series by Jay Faerber (GRAVEYARD SHIFT, NEAR DEATH) and Scott Godlewski (Dracula: The Company of Monsters).

“We just liked the idea of Clara being a single mother, who's very maternal and nurturing towards her son, but she's able to also be a kick-ass, take-no-shit sheriff,” said Faerber of his and artist Godlewski’s conception of their sheriff as a woman in an interview with Newsarama. “The people she routinely comes in contact with are really rough around the edges (to put it mildly) so she has to keep up a tough exterior.”
No one’s quite sure where Clara came from or why she took the job as sheriff in the first place. It’s no one’s dream job—except for maybe the deputy, who had his sights set on being sheriff long before Clara ever arrived. Some suspect she might be on the run from someone, trying to start life anew. But Clara Bronson’s not the only strange mystery in Copperhead: there’s more to this little community than meets the eye, and definitely more to the shady mining tycoon who seems to run it. Issues of race, colonialism, and class roil beneath the town’s tense surface.
With equal parts gritty western, fantastic sci-fi, and gripping mystery, COPPERHEAD, VOLUME 1: A NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN sets the stage for a series that will keep all kinds of readers coming back for more. It will be in comic book stores on March 11 and in bookstores on March  244 and specially priced at just $9.99.

January will feature Flash throughout the company line in celebration of his 75th Anniversary, February will bring everyone’s favorite wild card, Harley Quinn, on DC covers, and perhaps the best mash-ups of comics and famous movie posters will arrive in March.

WONDER WOMAN OF THE DAY: Fitness Model Gia Macool Embodies the Amazon Princess

The closest we'll ever get, probably, to superheroes in real life is through the great work of cosplayers. You see them at every pop culture convention from the very basic to extremely elaborate costume design. However, you don't have to be a cosplayer to enjoy dressing up as your favorite superhero from time to time. Take fitness model and entrepreneur Gia Macool for example. An accomplished fitness competitor and model, Macool is also a big fan of DC Comics' Wonder Woman. She shows her love of the iconic Amazon Princess in her fitness wear, meal prep accessories and even a full blown photo shoot in a Wonder Woman costume.

For decades comics have featured very muscular superheroes, male and female, epitomizing the human form at its strongest. So when bodybuilders and fitness pros decide to suit up as these costumed heroes, they are the embodiment of those fictional characters in the flesh. Macool looks like she stepped out of the pages of a Wonder Woman comic with a suit …

REVIEW: 'Death or Glory' #2 by Rick Remender and Bengal

After a raucous debut, 'Death and Glory' takes a weird turn. Like a really weird turn. Imagine David Lynch and Quentin Tarantino had a baby and out came out issue two of this new series from Rick Remender and Bengal. The question is is that a good or bad thing?

DEATH OR GLORY #2
Writer: Rick Remender Artist: Bengal Publisher: Image Comics Release Date: June 6, 2018 Cover Price: $3.99
Score: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
With a botched heist job, a bullet in her side, and all her money gone, Glory wrestles with what to do next. The cargo her ex-husband was trafficking wasn't drugs but people and after putting them all safely on a bus to Arizona, she's broke and being attended to by one of the Brazilians that stayed behind. Her scheme was pretty straight-forward - rob the money that the dirty sheriff was going to transport and use it for her dad's surgery. Easy peasy. Then it all went to hell as the sheriff recognized her, she dropped the money, and now no one is happy, not the sheri…

Wanted: Tall, Physical, Twenty-something Woman for 'Man of Steel 2'

Is Love in the Air for Batman?
I love the smell of new Batman/Superman movie rumors in the morning. The latest comes from El Mayimbe at Latino Review that presumes that Batman is getting a love interest based on the casting breakdown being circulated to talent agencies for the Man of Steel sequel.
They’re looking for someone in their late 20s and are open to all ethnicities... But wait there is more. They’re not only looking for a good actress (like duh), but they’re being very specific and looking for an actress who is both tall and possesses physicality. Interesting. Tall. Physicality. Ben Affleck is after all 6’4″ and it would look awkward if they pair him up with someone who is 5’2″. When I think of tall actresses, I think of amazons like Charlize Theron who is 5’10″ and current it girl of the moment Adrianne Palicki who is 5’11″. It's difficult to say for what role this is for but certainly sounds like it'll involve action so it could be a girlfriend who also happens to b…
