Sarah Shahi is The Diverse Nancy Drew CBS Was Looking For

The badass assassin from 'Person of Interest' is taking her specific set of skills to another CBS show when Sarah Shahi becomes the adult Nancy Drew in the pilot Drew.
CBS stayed true to their words when they announced the pilot order that the lead would be a diverse hire. Shahi, a Texas-native, is of Iranian-Persian-Spanish heritage. If Drew gets picked up it would be CBS's only primetime drama led by a person of color. The network currently has multiple ensemble casts and shows led by co-stars with POC but Shahi as the titular character would be a move in the right direction.
As for the premise of the show, Variety describes it as: Titled “Drew,” the potential series is described as a contemporary take on the character from the iconic Nancy Drew book series. The pilot will center around a 30-something who is a more mature version of Nancy than the one in the popular novels. Nancy is now detective for the NYPD, where she investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny obser…

Star Wars Mariachi Cover of "The Throne Room" from A New Hope

Star Wars music covers aren't hard to find but few come from a mariachi band. Mariachi Entertainment System does a lot of covers of music from iconic video games but are also known to do a faithful rendition of John Williams' best. 'The Throne Room' is from the award ceremony scene at the end of 'Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.'Unfortunately, it isn't synced up to the video but we do see the musicians lovingly play their instruments. Enjoy.

REVIEW: 'Faith' #2 by Jody Houser, Francis Portela and Marguerite Sauvage

★★★★★ (5/5)
'Faith' is an entertaining character study in the "everywoman" as superhero. One of the biggest complaints about Superman has been that he's boring, he's invincible, he's a boy scout, and there's nothing compelling about him. That characterization is unfair as he's been portrayed in many interesting ways. Faith may not be as powerful as Superman but is a great example of how to create a superhero story with a noble protagonist while still finding conflict and drama without undermining her integrity. She's smart, brave, and heroic but what makes her compelling is that she's a relatable person with dreams and emotions like the rest of us.
After the explosion that ended issue one, Faith feels guilty she couldn't have done more. She finds some solace in grateful survivors and a phone call from her friend @X, reminding her she doesn't have to it all alone. She has to balance her hero duties with her secret identity as content…

REVIEW: 'Postal' #10 by Bryan Hill, Isaac Goodhart, and Betsy Gonia

★★★★★ (5/5)
Molly has come to Eden like a tornado engulfing everything in her path. No one is safe but no one is fooled either. Everyone knows she's a threat, Mark  calls her a shark. Mayor Shiffron has to protect her but who's going protect Eden from her.

Bryan Hill has dropped a lethal wild card smack dab in the middle of 'Postal' who unlike the rest of the shady citizens in town, Molly has no interest in keeping a low profile or blending in. Despite her innocent look she has an unflinching thirst for blood. 'Postal' has been an eerie, sometimes shocking, tale of crime and corruption. It's also been malleable enough to switch gears and incorporate new characters with ease. This latest visitor is already making an impact albeit a negative one.

Hill embraces his pulp-style with crisp, almost rhythmic, dialogue. Scenes between characters are tension-filled as artists Isaac Goodhart and Betsy Gonia frame them soaked in shadows allowing enough light to expose an…

Vixen Throws Down in New 'Arrow' Clip

Wednesday night, Megalyn Echikunwoke makes her long-awaited debut in an all-new episode of Arrow as DC Comics superhero Vixen. After a successful run in the animated shorts that ran on the CW's online channel CW Seed, Echikunwoke moves from voicing the cartoon version to embodying the live-action heroine.
Ollie calls in some help from Vixen in trying to take down Damian Darhk. This marks the first live-action appearance for Vixen whose previously appeared in comics and animation. Her amulet allows her to harness the powers of the animal kingdom to fight crime.
More importantly, Echikunwoke as Vixen becomes just the third woman of color to join the CW/DC universe as a superhero. Hopefully, if she doesn't get a solo series then she could join the 'Legends of Tomorrow' team.
'Arrow' episode "Taken" premieres Wednesday at 8 p.m. on the CW.

Oliver realizes he needs help battling Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) so he calls in an old friend – Vixen (guest s…
