A series of unexpected disappearances and deaths hit Central City. Initially, these cases seem purely unrelated: no apparent connection between the victims makes it easy for the police to just file them as runaways or natural deaths. But when someone close to Ebony White disappears, The Spirit is on the case!

'Riverdale' Review: Archie Comics Comes of Age as Moody CW Drama

★★★★☆ (4/5)
"Chapter One: The River’s Edge" Season 1, Episode 1
Archie Comics has reinvented itself on the page and now has done it for the small screen. 'Riverdale' introduces a whole new audience to Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead in a "Mean Girls" meets "Twin Peaks" kind of way and it works perfectly.
Besides publishing the wholesome hijinks of the Riverdale kids in their classic style, Archie Comics also rebooted various titles with a more modern spin that kept it fun but with a contemporary approach. They also experimented with a horror line that brings the zombie apocalypse to town in "Afterlife with Archie" and dark magic in "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina."Two legitimately suspenseful books without an ounce of irony. These reimaginings of characters that span over 75 years paved the way for the CW drama that debuted Thursday.

Bestselling writer Meredith Finch (Wonder Woman, Little Mermaid) and fan-favorite artist Ig Guara (Batman: Arkham Knight, Blue Beetle, The Ravagers) team up for their first creator-owned series with Image Comics in ROSE—an all-new fantasy series set to launch this April.
ROSE is a classic fantasy tale about a girl trying to restore balance to a broken world. Rose must connect with her Khat—Thorne—to become the Guardian the world needs. But things aren’t easy for Rose and Thorne, as the powerful sorcerous Drucilla has many powerful and demonic allies—all of them focused on stopping one scared little girl who’s desperately trying to stay alive and do what’s right.
“Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved fantasy fiction,” said Finch. “Rose, for me, more than anything is a love letter to that genre. Having the opportunity to publish Rose, a book that means so much to me, through Image, a company that has established itself as the premier publisher of creator-driven comics, only makes…

REVIEW: 'The Dregs' #1 By Lonnie Nadler, Zac Thompson, Eric Zawadzki, and Dee Cunniffe

★★★★★ (5/5)
'The Dregs' is unlike any detective story you've ever read. It's not only in the spirit of hardboiled pulp novels like 'The Long Goodbye,' but offers a commentary of modern society like gentrification, drug abuse, and the plight of the homeless. Here's the solicitation that kind of gives the story away but it's so well executed that you still have to experience it.

A gentrified city. Its homeless population restricted to six square blocks called The Dregs. When people start disappearing, a drug-addled homeless man obsessed with detective fiction becomes addicted to solving the mystery. Equal parts Raymond Chandler and Don Quixote set in a thriving metropolis that literally cannibalizes the homeless, The Dregs is the first homeless meta noir ever made.

The drug-addled homeless man is Arnold and his friend has gone missing. The opening of the book makes it pretty clear that things in Vancouver's East Hastings neighborhood have gotten cutthroa…
