REVIEW: 'Faith and the Future Force' #3 by Jody Houser, Diego Bernard, Ulises Arreola, et al.

The race to save time continues as Faith and Neela recruit more and more heroes of the Valiant Universe to take on an unstoppable enemy. How many times must time repeat itself before the secure victory?

FAITH AND THE FUTURE FORCE #3  Writer: Jody Houser Artist: Diego Bernard, Cary Nord, Juan Castro Colors: Ulises Arreola Letters: Dave Sharpe Publisher: Valiant Comics Release Date: September 27, 2017 Cover Price: $3.99
Score: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
This 'Edge of Tomorrow'/'Groundhog Day'-type of story could grow tiresome, reliving the same day over and over again. However, Jody Houser raises the challenge, inviting more heroes to join the fight against this invincible robot that gobbles up time and anything in its path. Neela's efforts to involve Faith and solicit her leadership hasn't improved the outcome and she reaches a breaking point.
It's cool to see heroes from all over the Valiant Universe like Rai, Ninjak, Bloodshot, Quantum and Woody, and others team up. Ther…

REVIEW: 'War Mother' #2 by Fred Van Lente, Stephen Segovia, Rafael De La Torre, and Andrew Dalhouse

War Mother has been captured and being held hostage by a mysterious and silent enemy. She's been separated from her sentient rifle and her people are on their way to join her only to walk right into a trap. Things are escalating in the second issue of 'War Mother.'

WAR MOTHER #2  Writer: Fred Van Lente Artist: Stephen Segovia, Roberto de la Torre Publisher: Valiant Comics Release Date: September 27, 2017 Cover Price: $3.99
Score: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
Since the one-shot came out I've been anticipating this series but I still haven't fallen in love with it. So far, it's a serviceable sci-fi dystopian comic with a protagonist I'm still trying to like but have found a little off-putting. This second issue finds Ana aka War Mother being held captive in some unknown complex by captors we know very little about. The minions themselves don't speak but fight fairly well. Unfortunately, during the fight scene, there was one really odd transition that had me doing a double-…

The World’s Toughest Hobo is Back in ROCK CANDY MOUNTAIN from Image Comics

We travel through deals with devils, world wars, trench battles, magical artifacts, shocking turns, and tragic decisions. The world’s only kung-fu hobo epic continues in this exciting flashback adventure.
“We're heading down the last stretch of track on my hobo kung-fu epic,” said Starks, “and I assure you: every single part of this thing is amping up toward a huge climax that you won't want to miss!”

REDNECK #6  Writer: Donny Cates Artist: Lisandro Estherren, Dee Cunniffe Publisher: Image Comics Release Date: September 27, 2017 Cover Price: $3.99
Score: ★★★★★ (5/5)
The above synopsis says it all as Donny Cates, Lisandro Estherren, and Dee Cunniffe close out the first arc of 'Redneck' in epic fashion. This exceptional southern-fried vampire tale is unlike anything you've read and is really more about family and legacy than your usual blood-sucking shenanigans. The Bowmans' once idyllic situation in Texas has been upended putting them at odds with a rival family leading to a mysterious murder, and mistrust even among themselves. It's one dysfunction…
