'Valiant Beyond' Promises Exciting New Stories with Fresh Talented Voices

In the competitive world of comic book publishing, you can't rest on your laurels and Valiant Entertainment isn't about to start. Its new banner, VALIANT BEYOND, is bringing another exciting event to fans with four new titles from established and rising talent.

The fallout from its biggest crossover event HARBINGER WARS 2 finds Faith returning with original writer Jody Houser and newcomer MJ Kim (FAITH: DREAMSIDE #1, September 2018), a Bloodshot prequel from rising stars Lonnie Nadler, Zac Thompson, and artist Ken Lashley (BLOODSHOT RISING SPIRIT #1, November 2018), a solo series for fan favorite Livewire from another rising star Vita Ayala with established artists Raúl Allén and Patricia Martín (LIVEWIRE #1, December 2018) and veterans Andy Diggle and Doug Braithwaite take on the Deadside for a multi-dimensional event (INCURSION #1, February 2019).

Valiant plans to finish out the year in style and enter 2019 with another mind-blowing event. It's great to see Houser back on the title that she made a hit. 'Faith' is a refreshing hero and not just for her appearance but her enthusiastic sense of justice as a geek turned superhero is endlessly endearing. Lonnie Nadler and Zac Thompson broke out with the thought-provoking mystery Black Mask Studios' The Dregs, and their constant hard work has led work at Marvel and now with one of Valiant's most popular characters. Another Black Mask Studios alum, Vita Ayala is hot off her great post-apocalyptic series The Wilds and now puts her mark on Valiant's own rising star Livewire.

“I'm excited and thrilled to finally unveil what we have planned for the first wave of the future of Valiant with VALIANT BEYOND,” said Valiant Executive Editor Joe Illidge. “Each of our upcoming series is a shining example of what makes Valiant so unique among comic book publishers – our love for the incredible cast of complex, grounded characters; a pledge to continue creating a cohesive universe that every reader can follow; our passion for inviting and nurturing new voices within the industry; and an unwavering commitment to tell quality stories that will build upon the great Valiant narrative landscape. We're hard at work driving Valiant forward, and this is just the beginning!”

WONDER WOMAN OF THE DAY: Fitness Model Gia Macool Embodies the Amazon Princess

The closest we'll ever get, probably, to superheroes in real life is through the great work of cosplayers. You see them at every pop culture convention from the very basic to extremely elaborate costume design. However, you don't have to be a cosplayer to enjoy dressing up as your favorite superhero from time to time. Take fitness model and entrepreneur Gia Macool for example. An accomplished fitness competitor and model, Macool is also a big fan of DC Comics' Wonder Woman. She shows her love of the iconic Amazon Princess in her fitness wear, meal prep accessories and even a full blown photo shoot in a Wonder Woman costume.

For decades comics have featured very muscular superheroes, male and female, epitomizing the human form at its strongest. So when bodybuilders and fitness pros decide to suit up as these costumed heroes, they are the embodiment of those fictional characters in the flesh. Macool looks like she stepped out of the pages of a Wonder Woman comic with a suit …

REVIEW: 'Death or Glory' #2 by Rick Remender and Bengal

After a raucous debut, 'Death and Glory' takes a weird turn. Like a really weird turn. Imagine David Lynch and Quentin Tarantino had a baby and out came out issue two of this new series from Rick Remender and Bengal. The question is is that a good or bad thing?

DEATH OR GLORY #2
Writer: Rick Remender Artist: Bengal Publisher: Image Comics Release Date: June 6, 2018 Cover Price: $3.99
Score: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
With a botched heist job, a bullet in her side, and all her money gone, Glory wrestles with what to do next. The cargo her ex-husband was trafficking wasn't drugs but people and after putting them all safely on a bus to Arizona, she's broke and being attended to by one of the Brazilians that stayed behind. Her scheme was pretty straight-forward - rob the money that the dirty sheriff was going to transport and use it for her dad's surgery. Easy peasy. Then it all went to hell as the sheriff recognized her, she dropped the money, and now no one is happy, not the sheri…
