America, 1957. Elvis dominates the airwaves and apple pie is served after every meal. But, with the dark cloud of nuclear holocaust looming, Korean War vet Tim McClean’s major concern is taking care of his family in the atomic age. When the first bomb does drop on an unexpecting Midwest city, Tim and his family find themselves plunged into a strange new world, where what’s left of the United States has gone underground while continuing to wage war on Russia with unthinkable tactics. Based on Philip K. Dick’s short story Breakfast at Twilight , NUCLEAR FAMILY is written by  Stephanie Phillips ( Butcher of Paris, Heavy Metal , ARTEMIS AND THE ASSASSIN, RED ATLANTIS) and illustrated by Tony Shasteen ( Star Trek ). It’s Cold War-era science fiction at its most timely and terrifying. "Thanks to our amazing backers DR. LOVE WAVE AND THE EXPERIMENTS #2 is fully funded!!! But we're not slowing down! Help us hit our stretch goal of $6,300 so we can also finish making issue 3. And, if we hit the stretch goal, every issue 2 backer will get a FREE digital copy of DR. LOVE WAVE AND THE EXPERIMENTS #3!"

The story so far:

On the one-year anniversary of his Mom's death, Milt Summers--the lead singer of the small town sci-fi surf rock band, Dr. Love Wave and the Experiments--just wanted to play his way through the still-raw pain of losing her. But after the water disappears from his hometown's Harbor, mysterious creatures begin roaming the shores, and a new Dr. Love Wave super fan arrives in town he quickly comes to realize he's not going to be able to work through his grief alone for long.

Picking up right after the events of issue 1, in issue 2 of this 5-issue mini-series we find Milt and Mika growing closer as Milt opens up about what happened to his Mom while Mika reveals some secrets of her own. Plus, everyone's least favorite corrupt councilman Skip Biddle ramps up his plans to exploit Carl and Bergie Bergeron's misfortune at Madre Bay Harbor, and the aliens who have turned Madre Bay into a sandbar begin to close in on the unsuspecting seaside town!

Written by Greg Gustin, with art by the new series artist Kaylee Rowena (THE SCENT OF MAY RAIN),  a special backup story chronicling the origin of Zeef the Nardonian drawn by Kelsey Ramsay (OUR FINAL HALLOWEEN), and lettered throughout by Joamette Gil (POWER & MAGIC: THE QUEER WITCH COMICS ANTHOLOGY), DR. LOVE WAVE AND THE EXPERIMENTS #2 is the sentimental sci-fi surf rock comic you've been waiting for!
