Marvel Pays Homage to Classic Hip Hop with Variant Covers in October

Marvel's Hip Hop Variant Covers for October by Slidely Slideshow

Marvel is taking it way back with an homage to classic hip hop album covers for October variant comic book covers across their line. From Eric B. and Rakim to Dr. Dre, east coast to west coast, some of the best old school acts are switched with Marvel's finest. Some work (Iron Man as 50 Cent, Kamal Khan as Lauryn Hill, Spidey and Deadpool as the aforementioned Eric B. and Rakim) and others not so much (Ant-Man as Notorious B.I.G.). Still a cool Marvel-flavored trip back to when hip hop was dope.

"For years, Marvel Comics and hip-hop culture have been engaged in an ongoing dialogue,” Marvel Editor-in-Chief and noted hip-hop fan Axel Alonso said in a press release. "Beginning this October, we will shine a spotlight on the seamless relationship between those two unique forces."
