Bold and Heartfelt: New Black Mask Ongoing Series 'Destiny, NY' Coming from Pat Shand and Manuel Preitano,

What if there was a magical prophecy that you were destined to save the world, and you fulfilled it so young you don’t know what to do with the rest of your life?     That’s the problem facing Logan McBride in DESTINY, NY, the ongoing comic book series launching in March 2021 from Black Mask Studios, the Los Angeles-based indie publisher of acclaimed titles including CALEXIT, LOUD, 4 KIDS WALK INTO A BANK, KIM & KIM, and BLACK. Together, writer Pat Shand (Black Mask’s SNAP FLASH HUSTLE), artist Manuel Preitano (DC Comics’ THE ORACLE CODE), and cover artists Elisa Romboli (upcoming ALICE IN LEATHERLAND) and Rosi Kämpe (SPIDER-GWEN) have created a grounded story about the magic of young adulthood, star-crossed modern romance, delayed coming of age, and finding your place in a world too busy to notice you. “Destiny, NY is a story about what happens next. Fantasy stories always end when the prophecy is complete, when the villain is defeated. I wanted to find out what happens next. How

First Footage of Disney's 'Moana' Starring Dwayne Johnson

Disney's 'Moana' won't open for another eleven months but thanks to Disney Channel and JoBlo, there's a sneak peek of the animated film that was just released. Hawaii native and newcomer Auli'i Cravalho will voice the young South Pacific adventurer in search of a mythical island. She'll be helped by larger-than-life demi-god Maui voiced by the larger-than-life megastar Dwayne Johnson.
In the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania, Moana, a born navigator, sets sail in search of a fabled island. During her incredible journey, she teams up with her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui, to traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore.
The featurette is short, only offering seconds of actual footage and some behind-the-scenes shots of Cravalho and Johnson, but it looks unlike anything Disney has done. It's a more sophisticated looking animated feature than the excellent 'Lilo & Stitch' that was also was set in the South Pacific.

'Moana' will also be a musical while moving away from familiar Princess tropes Disney is known for. Moana is an independent spirit with a fearless sense of adventure. The film is slated for release on November 23, 2016.
