Valiant’s Seismic Summer Event Begins with HARBINGER WARS 2

Superstar writers Matt Kindt and Eric Heisserer unite with blockbuster artists Tomás Giorello, Raúl Allén and Patricia Martín for a staggering, six-issue confrontation

Valiant unveils the complete battle plan for HARBINGER WARS 2 – A SEISMIC, SIX-PART EVENT uniting New York Times best-selling writer Matt Kindt (X-O MANOWAR, DIVINITY, Mind MGMT) and superstar artist Tomás Giorello (X-O MANOWAR, NINJA-K) with Academy Award nominee Eric Heisserer (SECRET WEAPONS, Arrival) and visionary artists Raúl Allén (SECRET WEAPONS) and Patricia Martín (BLOODSHOT REBORN) for an epic conflagration at the epicenter of the Valiant Universe in May.

This summer, the most powerful Valiant event ever attempted erupts in full force as X-O Manowar, Livewire, the Harbinger Renegades, Bloodshot, the Secret Weapons, Ninjak, and a cast of thousands draw their battle lines in HARBINGER WARS 2 – the ultimate, action-fueled entry point into the most acclaimed superhero universe anywhere in comics today! Spanning six essential issues between May and September 2018, the complete HARBINGER WARS 2 saga will encompass the four-issue main series, as well as a self-contained, new-reader-friendly prelude introducing the main players behind the conflict, and a standalone aftermath special chronicling the scarred landscape of the post-HW2 Valiant Universe:

HARBINGER WARS 2: PRELUDE #1 | ON SALE MAY 2nd
HARBINGER WARS 2 #1 (of 4) | ON SALE MAY 30th
HARBINGER WARS 2 #2 (of 4) | COMING IN JUNE
HARBINGER WARS 2 #3 (of 4) | COMING IN JULY

HARBINGER WARS 2: AFTERMATH #1 | COMING IN SEPTEMBER

“What I love about these events with Valiant is they grow organically...” series writer Matt Kindt told CBR. “I don’t want to be writing some big, sprawling story with no real heart to it, and it’s just about connecting different books and characters. I think the thing that attracted us all to this idea was the heart of the story and the characters driving it, and telling a good story with heart. Eric had a great idea with Livewire, and really makes it about these character moments. The big event just happens around it.”

“It’s not as much about the event as it is about spotlighting these amazing characters, and pulling back a bit and showing how the universe is shared, and the friction that comes from the sharing of it,” he added.

FIRST: Before HARBINGER WARS 2 begins, JUMP ON BOARD with HARBINGER WARS 2: PRELUDE #1 – a STANDALONE INTRODUCTION TO THE VALIANT UNIVERSE’s most powerful forces from all-star creators Eric Heisserer, Raúl Allén, and Patricia Martín, the master storytellers that brought you SECRET WEAPONS, on May 2nd.

The Harbinger Renegades have been scattered across America…battered by the brutal MASSACRE that decimated their ranks.

Now, behind them, Livewire – leader of the Harbinger Foundation’s most unusual group of Secret Weapons – is about to incite the coast-to-coast clash that brings them all together in an inescapable collision of power.

Pushed to the brink by the government she once served, Toyo Harada’s former star pupil is about to make an irreversible decision…and deactivate America’s power supply in a last-ditch bid to save the extraordinary individuals called “psiots” from extinction. As a nation goes dark, the paths of our world's most powerful heroes will soon converge…and the stage will be set for the most cataclysmic confrontation in the history of the Valiant Universe!

REVIEW: 'Redneck' #2 by Donny Cates, Lisandro Estherren, and Dee Cunniffe

'Redneck' arrived a month ago redefining the vampire genre by not giving into convention or cliché. In fact, if you've read the first two issues, the vampire angle serves more as subtext than its selling point. It's the perfect approach to this character-driven southern fried drama that simmers with tension and intrigue.

We've seen Eugene's story. But during his last day's in Vietnam, he finally learns how Ha survived the war. She's always been much stronger than him; and much stronger than he's given her credit for. With all their secrets gone, Ha and Eugene must decide how to move forward.

WONDER WOMAN OF THE DAY: Fitness Model Gia Macool Embodies the Amazon Princess

The closest we'll ever get, probably, to superheroes in real life is through the great work of cosplayers. You see them at every pop culture convention from the very basic to extremely elaborate costume design. However, you don't have to be a cosplayer to enjoy dressing up as your favorite superhero from time to time. Take fitness model and entrepreneur Gia Macool for example. An accomplished fitness competitor and model, Macool is also a big fan of DC Comics' Wonder Woman. She shows her love of the iconic Amazon Princess in her fitness wear, meal prep accessories and even a full blown photo shoot in a Wonder Woman costume.

For decades comics have featured very muscular superheroes, male and female, epitomizing the human form at its strongest. So when bodybuilders and fitness pros decide to suit up as these costumed heroes, they are the embodiment of those fictional characters in the flesh. Macool looks like she stepped out of the pages of a Wonder Woman comic with a suit …

REVIEW: 'Death or Glory' #2 by Rick Remender and Bengal

After a raucous debut, 'Death and Glory' takes a weird turn. Like a really weird turn. Imagine David Lynch and Quentin Tarantino had a baby and out came out issue two of this new series from Rick Remender and Bengal. The question is is that a good or bad thing?

DEATH OR GLORY #2
Writer: Rick Remender Artist: Bengal Publisher: Image Comics Release Date: June 6, 2018 Cover Price: $3.99
Score: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
With a botched heist job, a bullet in her side, and all her money gone, Glory wrestles with what to do next. The cargo her ex-husband was trafficking wasn't drugs but people and after putting them all safely on a bus to Arizona, she's broke and being attended to by one of the Brazilians that stayed behind. Her scheme was pretty straight-forward - rob the money that the dirty sheriff was going to transport and use it for her dad's surgery. Easy peasy. Then it all went to hell as the sheriff recognized her, she dropped the money, and now no one is happy, not the sheri…
